The public record information viewed on CourtView reflects the court case information, docket entries and information required by Ohio law to be kept by the Greene County Probate Court. This information is updated regularly, excluding weekends and legal holidays. There will be a delay between court filings and judicial action, and the posting of such data by the Court for some or all of the filings type. The information posted is believed to be accurate, however accuracy is not guaranteed. 

Certain matters heard by the Court are confidential or restricted by law and are not displayed in the Court's online Courtview system. Adoptions, Involuntary Commitments and other confidential or restricted matters cannot be accessed online.

SEARCHING FOR COURT CASES:

When searching information on CourtView enter a complete or partial Last Name or a Case Number only. Do not enter search information in more than one field. Probate Court case numbers are formatted as "12345E." Do not use spaces in between numbers and letters when entering a case number.

When searching Company Names, enter search criteria in the Company Name or the Last Name field. Do not enter search information in more than one field. It will cause an error in obtaining the proper results.

Any errors or omissions detected should be reported to the Greene County Probate Court. In no event shall Greene County and/or the Greene County Probate Court be held liable for damages of any nature, direct or indirect, arising from the use of this Internet product; including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of savings, business interruption, loss of business information or other incidental, or consequential damages or loss.

MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATIONS:

This Online License Application is required to begin the marriage license process in Greene County Probate Court. The Court does not accept walk-ins for marriage license applications. Please read below before beginning the Online Marriage Application on the left hand tab. You may also access the Online Marriage Instructions for a more detailed explanation of how to complete the Online Marriage Application.

The application must be completed with all required fields before it will be accepted by the Court. All applicants are still required by law to appear, either in person or by video using Zoom, in the Greene County Probate Court to finalize the application and obtain the actual marriage license. If applicants wish to appear by video to finalize the marriage license process, they must contact the Court at (937) 562-5284, or email us at marriagelic-noreply@greenecountyohio.gov, to arrange for a Zoom marriage license session. If applicants do not contact the Court, the marriage license appointment will be scheduled as an in-person appointment.

When filling out this application online, please pay specific attention to the following:

    • Always use full names – no initials
   • When filling out parents’ names, be sure to list applicant's “legal parents,”- the parents who are on the applicant's legal birth certificate. Do not list step-parents.
   • Mother's name should be entered as applicant's mother's full maiden name before marriage.
   • If prior marriage(s) exist,  a numerical value of "1" or more should be entered. 


ELIGIBILTY FOR MARRIAGE LICENSE

For eligibility to obtain a marriage license in Greene County, Ohio, please consider the following:

  1.  Are both Applicants 18 years of age or older? If under 18, do you have an order from the Juvenile Court granting permission to marry?
  2.  Are at least one of the applicants a Greene County, Ohio resident?
  3.  Do both applicants live out of state and plan to get married in Greene County, Ohio?

If applicants answered NO to any of the above questions, the applicants are not eligible to apply for a marriage license in Greene County, Ohio.

 

For Ohio residents:  Applicants must apply in the County in which one or both applicants currently reside. The marriage license will be valid anywhere in the State of Ohio. If only one applicant is an Ohio resident, the marriage license may be obtained in the County where that applicant resides.

For out of state applicants:  Applicants must apply in the County where applicants are getting married. The marriage license will only be valid in that County.
